I had a friend that owned a flower shop. I did her hair every once in a while. We were talking about her busiest times and she said this..."Valentines Day is busy but Mother's Day is a lot busier. Not everyone has a Valentine but every one's got a Mother". I never had thought of it that way. How ironic that the same woman who said that is no longer here to celebrate Mother's Day. She passed away this past winter from bone cancer. Her son just buried his wife this past week as she had passed away from lung cancer. He nor his sons will have their Moms around for tomorrow. It makes me sad for them but it also is one of those lessons in life. Enjoy every minute you can with your loved ones.
Moms are interesting creatures. Lots of us have kids with every intention of doing what is best for them. Many times throughout their childhood you have to teach, scold, yell and scream at your children. All out of love of course. As they get older the only way they remember it is that you were an old gross witch that came out from under a bridge where you resided with odd trolls and such. When you made your appearance all you did was belittle and treat them horribly. I have found myself correcting the 14 year old many times about how an incident really occurred. I know that this scenario holds true for my own mom as well. As I have gotten older and my children have gotten older, I realize that it was at times a thankless job and and a rewarding job and all at the same time.
So if you get to crawl out from under your rock or bridge or wherever you reside and your children take pity on you and treat you well today, remember to treasure every minute of it.
